We're building a TMS570LS3137 board which has to be able to reprogram internal flash in the field, and are unable to use any external library software in the application (i.e. source code is required for 100% of the program image).

The reference manual describes the flash control registers, but doesn't provide a programming example or detailed instructions to erase/program the internal flash. Is there additional documentation or any existing source code we can use as a guide?

Bill,

We only provide the compiled Flash API library. The flash programming/erasing operations cannot be guaranteed if a customer uses their own code. This is why we do not provide the source.

At least an example which shows how to erase the application program from flash so that the application program can be changed through boot-loaders.

Dear Zhaonhong,
I have gone through this page . But there is no document of how exactly it works . In fact by using this demo we are able to dump the file through Ethernet boot loader . But this does not solve our problem, as we are looking to erase a flash from the same application program so that on the next power reset the boot loader will be loaded to take a new application program.

And one more question can we some how load boot loader from application?.. if this is possible then my work will be done.

Please see some inputs here (thanks to Zhang):

Kindly understand that the user cannot execute code and perform erase/program operation in the same bank. It is well documented in TRM and discussed in forum. If the application wants to erase/program other sectors in the same bank, the codes for flash operation and data communication have to execute from RAM. This is how our bootloader works. The code starts from Flash and CPU copies the F021 library and data communication functions to RAM before erasing and programing. Here is one forum thread discussing exactly the same issue.
