CCS5 and FreeRTOS Question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP430F5529LP, ENERGIA

My question is actually two in one.

If I purchase a TI LaunchPad Eval board (say MSP-EXP430F5529LP), can I use CCS5 for free? I've read that CCS5 can be used without cost as long as the board has a JTAG XDS100 debugger? I don't really understand this yet, or where to find it, so any help would be appreciated. I've been using CCS at school, and I really like it. I don't want something as simple as Energia.

Also, are all of these boards capable of running FreeRTOS?

Thanks!

  • Hello Pete,

CCSv5 supports all of TI uC and processors and XDS debugger is the standard method to connect using CCSv5. Some uC like TIVA have Stellaris ICDI Interface which has both JTAG and UART and is also supported by CCSv5.

For FreeRTOS support you may want to look up the Device Web page for further info.
