UART function only works in debug mode?

Hello Michael,

After enabling any peripheral in the code by using SysCtlPeriheralEnable, have you tried putting a SysCtlDelay(10) for the clocks to start?

Secondly when compiling the code is DEBUG define being used?

  I have DEBUG DEFINE being used, as follows.

And, SysCtlDelay does not make much difference.  At the moment, my UART only works in debug mode.

   Does the same happen at working example programs such as uart_echo?

   Questions:

1. Are you using CCS?
2. Did you make a new project?
3. Do you see a startup file at your projects folder?

Couple of points

1. The UART Pin PD7 is a locked pin. You need to unlock the pin by first writting to the GPIO_LOCK register and then setting the GPIO_CR bit for PD7. Without doing this the GPIO will not be made as a UART Pad

2. The UARTConfigSetExpClk is not required in ConfigureUART2 as you are changing the clock source later and reconfiguring
