I have the kit "Tiva C Series TM4C1294 Connected LaunchPad" containing TM4C1294NCPDT MCU.
I plugged in the kit using the micro usb provided to me in the box with the kit.
I installed all drivers
"Stellaris ICDI DFU Device"
"Stellaris ICDI JTAG/SWD Interface"
"Stellaris Virtual Serial Port"

I tried downloading the uart_echo.bin example provided to the board using LM Flash programmer build 1606.

I am always getting "**ERROR**: Unable to initialize target -0!"

In the Configuration TAB I have Quick set "TM4C1294XL LaunchPad".

What seems to be the problem here?

Hi,

Is this error when you first time you plugged in your Tiva Connected Launchpad, or have you already used it before?

1. Do you see the power led on? If you don't know where it is, refer to the user's manual

2. Are you sure you are connecting the USB debug cable at the right location?

1. Yes I see the power led (GREEN) ON.

2. I have connected the USB cable at the DEBUG USB port.

Yes, I was able to program the example program using LM flash loader before and it was working. But, suddenly it has stopped working and giving error "**ERROR**: Unable to initialize target -0!". This I do not know what happened, it just stopped working.

I am even certain that I have not changed any configuration settings in the LM flash loader, before when it was working and after when it stopped working, in both cases configuration were same.

I have tried the following steps afterwards, but they are of no use cause I am still getting the same error.

1. Re install Stellaris ICDI drivers and Stellaris virtual serial port driver.

2. Re install LM Flash loader.

3. Tested the same thing on the same PC using other OS (Windows 7), ERROR is still there.

What is the problem?

Hi,

Can you post a picture of Configuration tab? just setting only "Launchpad" may not be enough...

Hi,

Try the LM Flash Programmer Debug Port Unlock Utility. It is located at the "Other Utilities" tab.

Hi, did you installed latest ICDI drivers?

On device manager ICDI is reported as working?

Yes, This worked, what I did was

On the Tab "Other Utilities" --> Select Debug port unlock --> Select Fury, Dustdevil, TM4C123 and TM4C129 Classes --> Click on Unlock.

After this the LM Flash programmer, program OK.

Can you please put some insight to it, and explain how this has worked? Please excuse me, I am new to TI board and embedded system overall.

Hi,

The detailed explanation on what the Debug Port Unlock does is mentioned at your Device Datasheet.

The cause of your port being locked is mentioned at the sticky post in this forum "JTAG Communication Failures".
