TIVA new series!

Hi,

I wonder when the Texas will announce new series of the TIVA microcontrollers.

Ari.

Ari, I wonder too, other flavours can also on my interest like for example extending EPI to series 123 or just add LCD to 123 or extend 129.

Another series of TIVA exists (E series) but is not available to all and I got rumours it is dedicated to tablet.

Just IMHO is better wait this series is debugged and in production than add more part with possible more flew too.

  • Hello Ari,

I am unable to check the URL, but any new product in TIVA Series will be announced via TI website or an early teaser link put out on the forums.

    Regards

Finally, Texas will put the Cortex-M to compete with the C2000 for Power and Motor Control and with the MSP430 for low power. Just like all other are doing.

Hi Ari, I got the document it seems from some TI announcement, so as Amit pointed to, new can be announced here or on TI site.

This document content I reserve look at late in detail show some integration of C2000 feature like CLA and InstaSpin was present on Stellaris.

C2000 is more a DSP than a general purpose processor like MSP430 is in another class of 16bit processing ULP Ultra Low Power, TIVA cannot compete this feature.

MSP start from very low level 8 pin device at an ashtonishing performance too of 16MIPS, at .26US$, again nor TIVA can compete, MSP has on some part ADC and DAC joint to DMA and MAC specialized single cycle multiply add unit, this is useful to do low speed filtering and I assure you I got great thing using these feature. MSP using DMA from ADC to MAC can also act as a dual core computing filter without intervention of CPU.

On C2000 you can find CLA and specialized hardware, biggest feature of C2000 is the EPWM with the finest resolution we can have, specialized Hardware FFT and Viterbi can be ported to TIVA too but I am not sure processing unit of TIVA is same of C2000 DSP like too.

So anyway I don't know in deep TIVA architecture and may be Amit can have better knowledge between family and express a more accurate comparison. IMHO the 3 family I am using too are specialized to some area somewhere overlap but are not really interchangeable. I am still learning from TIVA so I cannot shrink to bit level I know on the other two mature architectures.

We can see what happen in the future too.
