RJ-45 connector for TM4C129x

Hi, everyone

We neet to lock for RJ-45 with built-in transformer for TM4C129x Ethernet devoce.

Do you know about recomended this one?

I found this on LM3S9D96 dataseet. This dataseet says J3011G21DNL

Can this connector use for TM4C129x device?

best regards Hiroyasu

  • Hello Hiroyasu,

Please check the TM4C129 System Design Guidelines Document. The document has a recommended Ethernet Physical Connector Topology.

Connector on his data sheet has center tap and all signal TIVA need to work, all parameter, check yourself too are in range with specs.

This cannot support POE on many Stellaris EK/DM board was present.

  • Hi, Amit, Roberto

    Thamk you for replay quickly.

If we use  J3011G21DNL on LM3S9D96 dataseet's circuit, circuit is same on TM4C129x?

     best regards

  • Hello Hiroyasu,

The intent of the circuit diagram is to provide the customer with the best possible Ethernet electrical compliance solution. You may use integrated magnetics, but it is not recommended

Below the Interface Configuration Section of the Datasheet please see the additional text

The Ethernet PHY is designed to work with transformers that meet the IEEE 802.3 standard. To
utilize the Auto-MDIX (AMDIX) capability of the Ethernet PHY, a symmetrical transformer is
recommended. The Pulse HX1188 transformer has been tested and is known to successfully interface
    to the Ethernet PHY.

Hi, Please follow the tm4c129x guideline to interface, I am using an integrated mag part, I prefer Thru Hole technology, my application is aboard a vibrating machine and also I don't like where connector can damage PCB on socket insertion.

Take care about ESD grounding and ground plane, track under the magnetic part, this way I agree Amit not to use. The part I chosed was measured with instrument to see if meet the specs is pin compatible to your but not mechanically otherwise was an Idea to also check this one.

Don't miss ESD active protection too and take great care about impedances of tracks to tracks and tracks to ground plane too never has to be under the connector nor magnetic part.

  • Hi,  Amit, Roberto

    Thank you for replay.

I will not use integrated magnetics RJ-45.
