How can I connect and detect RM42x to Realview debugger?

I bought the Hercules Launchpad RM42x board.

It is very well run at CCS tool.

But I want to use RVDS for this board.

I connect RealView ICE to Hercules Launchpad board using ARM-TI JTAG adaptor.

I think ARM-TI JTAG adaptor has not problem.

But my RealView Debugger not detect Cortex-R4. It just detect "UNKNOWN" device.

and output the message "info: No template found for device (position=0, ID=0x1B97102F, IRlength=6)"

How can I connect and detect RM42x to Realview debugger?

  • Hi mw,

Sorry RVDS isn't our tool and we can't be of much help just getting it configured.

Have you checked w. ARM Ltd's support?  The scan chain information for the device you can get from the target configuration in CCS...

In hardware you can confirm that with the adapter you have that JTAG_SEL is pulled low.

Otherwise the on-board XDS100v2 will be driving the JTAG.

Then, I think the ARM tools might  need a pullup on TRST\.  So you can check that out with ARM and if needed you might have to adde a pullup to the board.

Last - the board still needs power.  So USB has to be plugged in even if you are not using the XDS100v2... just to get power to the board.  Unless you wire in power some other way in a custom config.
