TMS570LS3137-PGE FreeRTOS

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HALCOGEN, TMS570LS3137

Hello,

unfortunately I have just found out that my TMS570LS3137 in PGE package does not support FreeRTOS in HalCoGen. Why is it not supported? Is it because of the low memory?

Please, give me some tips how to make some RTOS on the PGE package running.

Thanks,

 Milan P

  • Milan,

There isn't a FreeRTOS configuration in HalCoGen for every part # - that would be way to many variants to support effectively.   This doesn't mean it won't work just that it's not canned out of the box.

Most likely you can even run the ZWT variant of the generated code on your PGE almost out of the box - but you probably need to check the specs on clock frequency to make sure you are within the limits of the PGE and also if you are using IO pins check the pinmuxing to make sure that they are available.   But the silicon inside both packages is the same,  differences like clock frequency and pinout just occur because of the physical package (power distribution is worse in the PGE so frequency is sometimes affected).     These are not things that take a long time to adapt to in HalCoGen - since there is a screen where you set the clock freqy... so just give that a try.

    Best Regards,

    Anthony

  • Hello,

thanks for your help. I will try to modify the ZWT configuration for the PGE package, it is good to know that the silicon is the same for both packages :)
