TM4C1294XL Connected LaunchPad Workshop lab 4

is it possible to do lab 4 using my chrome web browser with a normal router connection?  http://software-dl.ti.com/trainingTTO/trainingTTO_public_sw/Tiva_CLP/CLP_Workbook.pdf starts on page 94 is what i'm looking at. I followed the instructions to the point of having the launchpad flashed and running. The serial output for the project is working in Tera Term it gives me a IP address. I put IP address into the address line of Chrome and it times out.  I try resetting the launchpad.

any help would be great,

dan

  • Hi,

Did you set the correct IP address at TCP/IP properties of your PC? It is mentioned at Lab 4 where to set that.

  • I should have kept reading. I did get it working. but my internet stopped working on my browser. so, i had to change the settings back. The settings for xp are close to win7 ,which they are using, but not the same.

anyone know how to get both internet and  launchpad working at the same time?

    thanks,

    dan

  • A couple options...

I am not familiar with Lab 4 but in general the examples can use DHCP.  If not you may have to change the code.

    1) Use a different network adapter for internet and for Tiva (wifi plus wired, or two wired connections).

    2) connect the tiva up to a hub/switch with your computer and the upstream port of the hub/switch to the network router.  Now the router will give both your computer and the Tiva an IP in the same sub-domain and they can talk to each other directly.  The computer can talk to the internet via the router.

  • Thanks Dexter. Your solution looks better than, what I was about to try. I was going to make a new project and copy as much as I could from the original then, add all the linked files. So, I could change them without  worrying  about messing them up.

Can someone point me to a good beginners guide or book on programming ethernet on microcontrollers? Something that walks me through the steps and why.
