Drivers lost with CCS6

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SW-TM4C, EK-TM4C123GXL

Hi,

I am unable to install drivers for Tiva C Series Launchpad on Win7 64 bit. Haven't use it for a while (it was all working well before) and in a meantime have a new CCSv6 installed. After searching and trying for about half a day still no luck.

Any hints, please?

  • Hello Jan,

    Download the ICDI drivers from

    https://focus-webapps.ti.com/licreg/docs/swlicexportcontrol.tsp?form_type=2&prod_no=stellaris_icdi_drivers_12245.zip&ref_url=http://software-dl.ti.com/tiva-c/SW-TM4C/latest/&form_id=154910

And then run manual update through the device manager.

    Regards

  • Hi Amit,

Thank you for trying to help me, but still no luck.

I have a 3 different types of Stellaris/Tiva boards. They were all working previously fine with no driver problems.

    Now the status is:

    1) Tiva C Series TM4C1294 Connected Launchpad - installs easily 3 drivers (Stellaris Virtual ComPort, Stellaris ICDI DFU Device and Stellaris ICDI JTAG/SWD Interface)

    2) LM4F232H5QD Evaluation Board - no drivers

    3) Tiva C Series Launchpad EK-TM4C123GXL - no drivers

Once again, some time ago I was able to work/program items 2 and 3 on the same PC.

Following your advice I did an attempt to manually install driver for (3) using the drivers from the link you supplied:

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks again

  • Hello jan

The Stellaris ICDI drivers come along with the CCSv6 installation as well. I recently did a CCSv6 install on a PC and it was able to detect the drivers.

    Let me try it today.

  • Thanks Amit,

Today I have the new version of CCS (v6.1) installed, but it didn't help either.

    There is a new observation:

Interestingly one out of six EK-TMC123GXL that my students have was able to have a proper drivers functioning on my PC, while other 5 not. Maybe the problem is with the ICDI firmware version? Is there a way to do the firmware upgrade without the drivers?

We have about 20 boards of LM4F232H5QD in a students lab and all of them have same driver problems, so I am in trouble and have to solve it. Hope you will help me.

  • Hello Jan,

Since the issue you have mentioned here is TM4C123: Did someone try to use the U2 microcontroller as a device instead as the debugger?

I tried the steps of installing the drivers after deleting the drivers and uninstalling the same for my EK-TM4C129 board. The same I was able to do for the EK-TM4C123 as well.

    Regards

    Amit

  • Hi Amit,

The answer is no. We haven't used the boards for about 2 months (inter-semester break). Everything was working fine before, but not now. It looks like after plugging in, the enumeration process brings only one device, which is In-Circuit Debug Interface instead of three different ones.  I'm lost with options now. If you have any suggestions it will be much appreciated.

  • Hello Jan,

You may want to search the TIVA Forum for ICDI issues. I believe there have been instances where it is not able to install the drivers, but some WA's have helped out users.

    I did it already

    Didn't have much luck myself

I went to another building lab and check their computers with my boards. Everything works fine in there. So it is just my computer misbehaving. I have to stop using Stellaris and Tiva for now until some mystery with will appear with USB. Possibly going back to old MSP430 (or something else).

If anyone reading that has a clue, advice please help.

Is there a way to completely wipe out the USB drivers (and reinstall again) other than reinstalling Windows?

    Thank you again Amit.
