Interfacing Thermal printer FUJITSU FTP-628103 with TM4C123

Hi all,

I have a project where I will have to interface the thermal printer with Tiva-C mcu. after searching through the forums, I have been unable to understand as to how to develop a driver file so that it can be used to print a message using it. I have found the datasheet from fujitsu which is attached, but It only describes the connector. Nothing is described about the protocol, its instructions and how to control it. Please help

  • I would guess the same protocol as described in this

(Found in a quick google search)

It is, however, light on details.  You should ask Fujitsu directly for techinical information.  As long as they have not succumbed to Windows fever and only supply Windows drivers the information should be available from them.  It is possible you will need to sign an NDA.

    Who hasn't?

Far worse to succumb to, "Dengue Fever!"  Investigatory efforts of some need refinement, practice & should better target MCU - not endless, "offshoots..."

I note that we past (late '80's/'90's) tied an 8051 MCU to several, compact Seiko thermal printers.  8 bit data-bus as I recall - and strobes.  Seiko - (at that time) had issued App Notes & basic schematics - seems reasonable that some of these still linger - awaiting proper investigatory pursuit...

All posters may benefit by, "Selecting an interface device with data/instructions readily available!"  Acquiring a, "one-off" (or discard) device - and then "searching" - by (seeking assistance here) seems a "time/effort saving" for posters - not for those willing to assist!  Can that be right/proper?  (and should it pass unmentioned?)
