TMS570LS31x HDK bill of materials (BOM) is missing from TI Wiki (so are Gerber file and bootloader)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDS570LS31HDK, TMS570LS1227, TMS570LC4357, TMS570LS3137, TMS570LS20216

Hello folks,

The link to the bill of materials (BOM) of the TMS570LS31x HDK seems to be broken on the Ti Wiki website (TMS570LS31_HDK_BOM.zip). In addition, Gerber file and bootloader cannot be found (TMS570LS31_HDK_Gerber.zip, TMS570LS31_Bootloader_v1.0.zip). Can anybody fix this problem?

Thanks,

LW

  • Hello Lev,

I know there has been a lot of work done with the wiki pages to remove redundant and out of date information so it is possible these links fell victim to this efforts.

I believe the information you need is available through normal TI pages now.

For the schematic, gerbers, and other design information use this page and download/open the design files zip file.

    http://www.ti.com/tool/TMDS570LS31HDK

For the bootloader, go to this page for the documentation/appnotes:

    http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/microcontrollers_16-bit_32-bit/c2000_performance/safety/tms570/tech_docs.page?rootFamilyId=4&familyId=1870&docTitle=bootloader&docCategoryId=1

There is a link within each of the appnotes to the source file location for that specific bootloader type. For example, the UART bootloader appnote is assigned a library name of SPNA193 and has a link to its source as shown below:

    http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/spna193

Hope this helps. Let me know if there are anymore questions or issues.

  • Hello Chuck,

Thank you for your kind response. I was able to find everything from the links you provided except the BOM.

BOM doesn't seem to exist in the board design file (spnr034.zip) or it may be hidden in the design file... I don't know.

I would like to know the manufacturer, part number, vendor, and vendor part number for each part. Could you please kindly give some hints on finding BOM?

    Thanks,

    LW

  • Hi Lev,

I have sent a message to the board designer to let him know this information is missing from he wiki page. As I poked around on the wiki, I discovered that the BOM and Gerber files are still present for other HDKs such as the RM48 HDK which is almost the same as the TMS570LS31 HDK. This means that something is wrong with the wiki page and the links that are there should still be valid for the TMS570LS31 HDK.

I will let you know as I get more information and/or any updates on the status of the links in the wiki page for the HDK.

  • Hi Chuck,

I found the BOM of TMS570LS31x HDK still not in TI Wiki.  However as your advice, I got the BOM of RM48 HDK.  Since RM48 HDK doesn't support FlexRay function, there is no FlexRay tranceiver found in the BOM. My question for you is: how about TMS570LS31x HDK, are there FlexRay tranceivers on board?

  • Austin,

There are no FlexRay transceivers on the HDK board.

All of the HDK PCBs are the same (RM46, RM48, RM57, TMS570LS1227, TMS570LS3137, TMS570LC4357) because all of the Hercules devices in the 337ZWT are pin compatible so we only need one HDK design.

There are two expansion board designs that include FlexRay transceivers.   The Gerbers are available and you can get them built w. a low cost process, for example the experimenter is only a 2 sided PCB.

The boards to add FlexRay to HDK are:

    HDK_FlexrayCanLin_Daughter_Crad.zip

  • Hi Anthony,
Thank you very much for your answer last time. That helps a lot.
I currently own a set of TMS570 MDK which includes a TMS570LS20216 CPU card and an I/O Base Board.
Can same I/O Base Board be used for docking a TMS570LS31x Hercules Development Kit ? I wonder if it's competitable.
Connectors of the latter looks pretty much the same as those on the TMS570LS20216 CPU card.

    Best Regards,

    Austin Hu
