Hello,

We have successfully used the lwip example on the HDK to develop code for our board. However, we've gotten our new hardware in and have a different phy chip on board. Looking through the code, it's a little tough to decipher where we may need to edit to get the code working again. There are a lot of files excluded in the example - were those files used to generate the rest of the code used? Or any tips on where to start?

Andrew,

You need to first compare the shte spec of the PHY on HDK and the one in production and see what is different between those two PHYs. Based on this information, you can put together a list what needs to be changed. Then figure out the software change.

We have gone through the spec sheet, but it's not clear where in the lwip example code is where the changes should be made. There's also a lot of code that is excluded from the build that I'm not sure what it does.

Hi, there.

From the software perspective, the change will be limited to the PHY configuration data CPU send through the MIO port. It actually not related to lwip stack. You should be able to find the call to the PHY initialization function in main().

For anyone having issues, I found that the problem was that in hdkif.c (which is an excluded file but somehow is still important I guess?) there's a hardcoded hdkif->phy_addr = 1. For our board we are using phy_addr = 0. So I changed it to use the emacPhyAddress generated by HalCoGen to be dynamic.
