How to use Vars.ini file

I am unclear where to put a vars.ini file and also what exactly goes into a vars.ini file.

Is the file just newly created and put in the workspace folder containing all projects? or just into particular projects?

Are there specific variables that get defined in there? like whatever the variable for tivaware install is. Where can I find these variables?

Possibly more clearly, if someone could provide an example vars.ini file I could probably figure out what is going on.

I will be working with a team of other people so sharing code, I feel its necessary to make the vars.ini file to keep things easier and consistent.

Hi Amit,

Currently using TM4C1294NCPDT

Code Composer 6.0.1.

RTOS 2.1.0.3

I found the path variables under Linked Resources in my project properties. I guess I am not sure whether I even need a vars.ini file when having my other team members to pull code and modify it and have it still run smoothly on their side too.

The code is using RTOS, TCP, GPIO, I2C. Thus it seems I need RTOS libraries and at least driverslib.

AFAIK, the vars.ini is created when the Build Settings are written for locating the RTOS and driverlib by CCS.

Where does that show up? It doesnt appear to be made in the projects folder nor in the workspace folder.

It should come up in the workspace. I have only one workspace project that has it even though I define it for almost all my projects.

Is there a specific issue that is being causes by a missing "vars.ini"

No there is no issue at the moment.

I was reading that a vars.ini file is recommended to help others who fork your code from a repo to have variables set up such that everything should just work without much extra hassle of changing include library directories.
