Power Mangement Unit for TMS570LC4357 & RM57L843

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LC4357, RM57L843, TPS54350

Hello,

I have gone through the discussions related PMU for TMS570LC4357, but couldn't conclude my self.

I am looking for PMU for TMS570LC4357.  I am going to inteface 4 CAN transceivers with this controller. No other interfaces used.

My input Voltage: 5 V to 15V.

Outputs:

1 . 3.3V for CAN transcevers (280 mA Max) and Digital logic supply voltage (I/O) & Flash pump supply voltage of controller.

2. 1.2V for Digital logic supply voltage (Core)

Kindly suggest PMU with monotoring and saftey crital features. And i have TMS570LC43x Hercules Development Kit. But i couldn't find schematics for the same. How to get the schematcs ??

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Govind.

  • Hello Govind,

I have forwarded your post to one of our experts that can provide you some recommendations given his experiences in designing HW with the TMS570LC4xxx device. He should reply to you soon.

  • Hello Mr. Chuck Davenport,

I am waiting for valuable feedback from your expert team.

Meanwhile, I have found that, TPS54345 regulator was used in Herculus develoment Kit TMS570 MCU.

My idea is to use the same as 5V to 3.3V converter (Please suggest if you have better alternative).

Now i need an 3.3V to 1.2V converter. Pleaase suggest an LDO/Buck regulator for " TMS570LC4357/ RM57l843" controller core supply.

    Thanks in advance.

    Best Regards,

    Govind.

  • Hello Govind,

Typically speaking, it is challenging to make recommendations for a power supply for a customer since there are many factors that can come into play in the system design and there are no specific requirements from the microcontroller side that require a specific supply type as long as the supply meets the voltage and  current requirements of the controller.

With that said, I have spoken with the designer of the HDK and they pointed out the HDK uses TPS7301 for 1.2V (LDO, 3.3V to 1.2V), TPS73733 for 3.3V (5V to 3.3V), and TPS54350 for 5V (switcher, 12V to 5V).

Although these components met the needs in the TI HDK design there should be no assumptions that they will meet the needs in your system without your full review of the device datasheets and system requirements. In other words, there is no guarantee, recommendation, or endorsement of these devices as a suitable solution for your system and you must exercise good engineering judgment as to their use and suitability in your system.
