Dear TI team,

We are developing a control system using RM57L843 chip. And we found some problems with its chip. The first was the swapping of MAC address. The second was the EMIF problem. If we access an external memory, WR signal of MCU is outputted 3 times always. So its access time is very slow. There were described at Errata. But I can show the status of RM57L843 is Active at TI web. And we are ready to produce our system.

But recently we received an information its producing schedule from TI-Korea. They told us its producing will start at July, 2014. Is it right?

Please let me know its normal producing schedule as soon as possible.

    As you mentioned the EMIF issue is described in the errata and can be found in the RM57L843 product folder.  We are currently implementing a fix for this issue and it is in design validation at the moment.  The plan is to do production release on this new revision in July 2015 (I assume you meant 2015 in your post).  This is when order entry will be open, there is lead time up to 22 weeks depending on the quantity requested.  In general you can assume September 2015 to receive mass production units.

    Best to work with the Korea sales team on this as I am also communicating with them.

    Sunny,

    Sorry to hear that the schedule for RM57L843 may not work out.  Please consider RM48L952 as an alternative.  It is pin compatible and much of the s/w will be compatible as well (difference is mainly initialization since RM57 has cache).

    Thanks Roy,

    Unfortunately we need 4 channels of CAN. So I think we have to select RM57L843 or TMS570LC4357.

    Can you recommend the others MCUs?

    Sunny,

    There are no other Hercules RM devices with 4 CAN.  The TMP570LC4357 has the same schedule as the RM57L843, so that  isn't going to help.  Only other suggestion I can make is to use maybe an RM42 (with 2 CAN) + RM46 or RM48.  You would need at least one RM46/RM48 for the EMIF.  Adding the RM42 would get you the additional CAN you need.  Not sure if you have the board space for this or not and what that would mean for your design.  Just a suggestion.
