Invalid ROM Table Error in Tiva controller.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TM4C1230H6PM

Hi,
We are using TM4C1230H6PM Tiva MCU in one of our project which will be implemented in Automotive Environment. The source to this controller is 3.7V type Li-Ion battery. As the battery source descharges gradually we observe following behaviour in our controller.
As the controller VDD voltage decreass to 3.1V it start's resetting continuosly around 40 to 50 times now a point is reached when the reset pin is high but controller stops generating frequency (MCU stop working).
Now we have applied 3.3V to VDD of controller, in this case we expect that the controller should start working on power on reset but it doesn't.
Internal LDO is generating 1.2V at VDDC pin.
We tried to flash the firmware through Ulinx-2 and the controller gets detacted in JTAG Device chain, but download failed. It shows following message.

                                                             Invalid ROM Table.

I am looking for the root cause of above problem. Can anybody help us ?

Thanks & Regards,
Rajesh Matere.

  • Hello Rajesh,

First to affirm your observations: TM4C123 BOR/POR fall threshold is close to 3.0V. So even small noise on the supply may be enough to trip it.

Coming to the second part of the problem

    1. Can you connect to the target w/o downloading the code and then see if you can read the registers of the device or SRAM though the debugger

    2. Did you try a Device Unlock and then a re-flash?

    Regards
