"Updated" Forum

Regarding the recent changes.  Are you sure that taking more space to display less information and adding annoying pop-ups is the way to go?

Robert

  • Hello Robert

We are working to get a lot of fixes back into the forum. If you can condense the exact it would be useful

  • First and primary is that the individual topics in th etopic list now take about an order of magnitude more space than they did previously. Previously there was a small (superfluous) icon, a line of text and some white space. Now there is a smaller line of larger text a larger icon (or so it seems and a great deal of wasted whitespace. This has two consequences
First there are fewer listed per page so topics will be missed. The more active a forum is the worse the problem.
Second it is now necessary to scroll and scan to see what was apparent at a glance previously

Secondarily there is a popup that I think is meant to provide an introduction to features, the only two options are next and later. Later will apparently cause it to come back in 10 minutes according to the mouse over and next presumeably leads on to some long tutorial that I have absolutley no desire to spend time on. Quite frankly the fact that this cannot be dismissed is a littel insulting. It is also hiding some of the navigation.

That's all I've the patience to explore currently. It is worth noting that this is a separate thread from cb1's simply since the new interface meant I did not see his thread.

  • Amusingly, I also note that the forum appears to be set to London time. Is the forum perhaps maintained in the UK?

  • Hi Robert,

I played along with the popup messages by pressing "Next" and now the popups does not appear anymore.

  • Hi after some time we accepted worst interface as is.... Error come from ordinary usage I have new wish to share:
Reply and Edit are the most used action, delete spam abuse are seldom used, today I marked one of my reply as spam abuse, so this proposal:
    Left side
    <<Like>> <<Reply>> <<Reply-Rich formatting>>
    Right side
    <<Delete>> <<<Spam-Abuse>>>
Spam abuse I think require some selection of violation kind and optional descriptive text.

Personal area and request are still open
as setting to remove "spamming" from unwanted thread notification mail.
