Problem when update Hercules Emulation 6.0.6

Hello,

My Code Composer Studio Version is 5.5.0.00077

I tried to update the Hercules Emulation package and got this message:

"Missing requirement: Hercules Emulation 6.0.6 (com.ti.ccstudio.hercules.win32.feature.group 6.0.6) requires 'com.ti.dsflash.win32.feature.group 6.0.0.766' but it could not be found..."

How can I get around this?

    This is a dependency issue that we are currently working with the Hercules and CCS teams to resolve.

    I also would like to inform you that CCS 5.5 is now replaced by CCS 6.

    At this stage of our development, we hope to avoid upgrading to CCS6 if we can help it.

    Clio,

    Here is the status on Hercules Emulation 6.0.6
    This update is visible on CCS 5 by mistake and should not be offered as an option.
    It is intended for CCS6 only.

    I understand your concern switching to a newer version of CCS, but let me explain.
    If you have to install CCS6 (the actual release is 6.1.0) this will be done in a different directory.
    So your actual CCS5 will still be usable. 

    The main concern when using a new IDE is mainly on the Code Generation Tool.
    Even if you install CCS6.1 the version of the compiler you are actually using can be installed. So you out file for your application will be exactly the same.
    The only potential problem could be on the Project file. Importing an old project file to a new CCS version is possible but the reverse may not be.

    In summary, unless you need Hercules Emulation 6.0.6 to support a device not available in Hercules Emulation 6.0.5, there is no real value.

    Hello Clio,

    The dependency issue is such that you must install the Flash Debug Server patch v6.0.0.766 before the Hercules patch 6.0.6 since there are files that are needed for both. The issue is that the Hercules patch 6.0.6 doesn't apply to CCS5 and should not be visible in that version of CCS. At issue is that there is currently no way for the Hercules emulation package updates that apply only CCSv6.0.1 or greater to be hidden on earlier versions such as CCSv5. This is the problem we must solve.

    From an upgrade point of view, you shouldn't have to worry about the Hercules Emulation 6.0.6 patch since there are not any updates that apply to your version of CCSv5.
