Is there support for (Embedded Trace Macrocell) ETM on TMS470-HT / SM470R1B1M-HT

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SM470R1B1M-HT

We are using TMS470-HT / SM470R1B1M-HT (HT implies high temperature) which is ARM7TDMI based core for our application as this works at high temperatures. I understand that this controller does not have ETM (Embedded Trace Macrocell) on it. After checking with TI Technical team, it sounded like there could be a flavor of this controller which has ETM on it. I need a controller which would operate at high temperature and has ETM on it so that I can log the trace of events and the code execution flow.

Is there any revision of this controller that has ETM on it? If not then is there any other part which would operate at high temperature and has ETM on it?

  • Pinakin,

Normally we'd forward this post to the Hi-Rel forum given that it's an SM470R1B1M question.   But I think you'll find that the answer is no;   in the TMS470 produce line we produced an SE (System Emulator) / superset part that exported the entire busses of the processor for direct trace with a logic analyzer.

If you want High Temp as well as ETM trace, you should look at the TMS570 product line.  There are -EP versions of this product as well.    It is based on the Cortex R4 CPU which has both the ARM and Thumb instruction set support (for best compatibility with ARM7) and while newer revisions with more features - many if not most of the peripherals are compatible.  (It is the upgrade path for TMS470).

On the TMS570 produce line, you can find several parts  (TMS570LS20216ZWT,  TMS570LS3137ZWT,  TMS570LC4537ZWT) that are the 'superset' parts and include 32-bit ETM ports with the capability of both instruction and data trace.

  • Hi Pinakin Potdar,

If your query is answered, can you pls close this thread ?
