tms570-connect target to supply error

Can you pls let us know more on your hardware ? Is this a HDK or ?

This error may get popped for various reasons when the debug driver is not able to communicate to the device.

Most likely there is a short from what you have described, pls check your hardware for any changes that you might have done.

it is tms570lc4357 hdk. i did continuity test. i get a short between gnd point and 3.3v test points TP16 and TP17, TP20 and TP21.
is that due to controller? how to find this?

If you have any external interfaces, connecting wires on to any of the HDK interfaces(for ex J4, J6, J9, J10, J11 etc....) then pls try removing all of them and check once.

We cannot do much without having access to the hardware and interfaces that you have connected to.

i dint connect any external interfaces to the board. when i switch on the supply ic gets heated.
if there is any problem with ic what should i do?

controller gets heated immediately when i switch on the supply..

Before that, have you flashed any code on to that part just before you started noticing this behavior ?

i was working with ethernet and flashed the example code. it was working good. after two days holidays i came back and started the work. at that time only i noticed that.

I was wondering if there was some code in the flash which is configuring your I/O's or something that takes the device to this state.
I'm not very sure on this though, but a guess based on what most users face.

I just want to re-confirm that the last time before you power cycled your board, you flashed the part or not ?
or
without flashing the device you have successfully power cycled the board a few times and then you suddenly started seeing this(which may not be the case in my opinion) ?

after my holidays when i powered the board i got the error. then i noticed that controller's behaviour. that day i dint flash any code

Not sure if you got me, but lets do a simple test.

Try holding the reset while you power-up the board (Keep the device under reset all the times before and after power-up).

Now pls let us know if you still see the device getting heated up with the device kept under reset ?

yes the device gets heated now also

So I don't think there is anything to do with the code inside the Flash creating this issue.

I will try to get info on what could be done next, this might take sometime but I will try to pass on the info as soon as I can.
