DK-TM4C129X 7 Inch TFT Displays

Hi all,

I recently acquired the DK-TM4C129X development board and have been working on a prototype. I have recently been instructed that the prototype needs to have a 7 inch touch screen. I was wondering if there are any 7 inch touch screens that already have the drivers and are ready to go with the dk-tm4c129x.

I know that Kentec has the K70DWN2-V1-FF 7" screen but I have been having issues connecting it to the board and getting a response from it. I have sent out a message to Kentec and I am waiting for their reply.

I am hoping to see if there are any other 7" LCD screens that could be connected to the dk-tm4c129x board and would not require me to write new drivers, or if anyone has any information on how to connect the Kentec screen to the dk-tm4c129x board.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

  • Hi, selected display is based on SSD1963 controller from solomon, in the data sheet an example for old Stellaris is present and can be ported to TIVA with no difficult or simply reading parameter from initialization section and inserting in the actual driver of provided part.
On that processor you have to decide TFT kind from a controller oriented or controllerless (less expensive), when you selected your model then you have to customize interface to support your new panel and touch screen.
Remember if you choose controllerless you must have more ram and also build a DRAM expansion or wait for the one is expected to release end of month.

Edit: 7" has some differences on pinout of connector, so check if it these can be rerouted from original path to data bit, otherwise try connect using an external adapter.

  • Explain in detail, your reply is not up to the point
