RM48L952 connecting SPIENA pin to RF Transciever interrupt

Hello,

I have a customer that is trying to configure the SPEINA pin on the RM48L952 to connect to the interrupt of a 2.4GHz RF Transciever.

How should the SPEINA pin be configured to achieve this?

Can we suggest some RF Transcievers that would work well to achieve the desired result? (maybe: CC2531, CC2530, CC2533)

Jay,

The RF transceiver toggles the the interrupt pin to send a request to the host processor. When this pin toggles, an interrupt needs to be generated in the host processor to handle the request from the RF transceiver in time. You will need to connect it to a interrupt capable GIO pin. On RM48L952, you can use one pin from the GIO module. The SPIENA pin (even in the GIO mode) should not be used here.

For the choice of RF transceivers, you need to get more information from the customer about their system. For example, There is already a 8051 uP on CC2531. My first read of the datasheet indicates that they only use a SPI type of serial port.

Additional information:

For the choice of RF transceivers, if the user just wants a RF interface with the host processor, I would choose CC2530 because it is simpler. If the user wants to use I2C as the interface, then they need to choose CC2533. If they want to the RF transceiver also to handle USB, CC2531 will be the choice. There is as on-chip USB PHY which not only reduces the cost but also make the system design simpler.
