What does the "E" in Tiva TM4E1231 mean?

Tiva E series is a special series dedicated to tablet and other special market.
This series is not available to generic user and need an NDA with TI to have more information and access to restricted information too.

who are you ? to say restricted information? are you TI owner? and why not mention before TIVA E need NDA ?

Not mentioning them on the website indicates information about them is restricted does it not?

Custom variants of microcontrollers is fairly common. Often dedicated to a particular customer sometimes to a particular application/industry. Usually with NDAs,you usually need high volumes to qualify.

There is some public information available on the "E" series, in that the CCS 6 ccsv6/ccs_base/common/targetdb/devices directory contains the peripheral definitions for the Tiva "E" series.

My guess is that the Tiva "E" series are intended for use in thermal management applications, since they have fan controller and Platform Environment Control Interface (PECI) peripherals which are not present in the Tive "C" series devices.

There are many ways of naming. That is not relevant. TI has no obligation to list all of their parts for you.

Since you have 2 threads running, I want to make sure all of us are on the same thread.

The statement is across the industry: Device function and its nomenclature is a silicon vendor internal process. Also based on what market a device is meant for, a vendor reserves the publication and information on it. Also not to mention a vendor may be bound by client NDA's for a semi-custom part.

It is generally considered that the phrase, "Who are you?" - launched as your opening - (i.e. w/out any introduction) is indeed aggressive.

Now - I happen to fully agree w/you - vendors should (all) strive for greater clarity.  (I past worked for a very similar, giant, semi-vendor)   Yet - that goal of great clarity - is beyond your (and my) wish/hope/control.   So we're stuck.

That said - developing our investigative skills - learning "how, where, & when" to search for key/critical data is (fully) w/in our power - and thus proves a superior alternative...

I sense your disappointment (maybe even share it) yet attacking an earlier poster - who sought only to aid others - was misguided.   Some "softening" should be considered...

Hello Syed,

Let me re-iterate. A tool chain version having support does not mean that the device is available. By the same argument since the device has the same register map as other peripherals from TM4C, it cannot be inferred that TM4E should be public.

This however does bring me to a very interesting point: Are you planning to evaluate TM4E and for what end application?

As a customer you can always question the presence or absence of data in tools or on websites. However as a vendor we can deem some of the data to be internal and restricted.
