Hello TI,

I am using the code example for the TMS570LS3137 HDK - the connectivity example project with LwIP.

When I try to define a variable from sockets.h, I have an error - "error #71 incompatible type is not allowed".

The sockets.h and sockets.c are present in the project.

What shall I do ?

Hello Zhaohong,

I am using the example from http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/HALCoGen_Ethernet_Driver_and_lwIP_Integration_Demonstration

Inside the lwip_main.c, I just include "lwip/sockets.h" header and then "struct sockaddr_in xyz" - this is the line where the compiler says "error #71 incompatible type is not allowed".

Both the lwip/sockets.h and sockets.c files are existing and present in my workspace - as I said I am using the example project.

My goal is to write a TCP Client using sockets. What should I do ...?

Did you do the following?

To enable BSD-style socket support; the lwIP configuration file must define LWIP_SOCKET and

LWIP_COMPAT_SOCKETS. For more information about these defines please refer to src/include/lwip/opt.h configuration file.

I find the following document useful when learning lwIP for the first time:

Hello,

Yes, here is what I have in the opt.h file:

#ifndef LWIP_SOCKET
#define LWIP_SOCKET 1
#endif

#ifndef LWIP_COMPAT_SOCKETS
#define LWIP_COMPAT_SOCKETS 1
#endif

And the sockets.h file includes the opt.h....

Do you have a lwipopts.h file? If so take a look in it. That file may override values in the opt.h file (due to the #ifndef).

I normally work on TivaC and TI examples for those have LWIP_SOCKET set to zero in the lwipopts.h file.

Thank you for your answers.

I also have the lwipopts.h file. The opt.h includes lwipopts.h and lwip/debug.h.

Here are the values from lwipopts.h:

#define NO_SYS 1
#define LWIP_NETCONN 0
#define LWIP_SOCKET 0

....

I tried to set LWIP_SOCKET to 1.... still the same issue.

Hello,

It turned out that I had been reviewing another lwipopts.h file yesterday. I found the one that's being included by the opt.h.

I changed the NETCONN and SOCKET defines to "1" and this solved my issue.

However, now I have a series of errors in many different files. Could you provide me with working configurations for Socket programming.

Hi again,

1) Where shall I start from now with the troubleshooting?

2) How can I be sure that the LWIP stack is ported correctly to the TMS570 - especially the timers and the delays that are needed in the stack.

3) And once again ... is it possible for you to provide me proper configuration files ("opt.h" and "lwipopts.h") in order to write a single client socket... via the LWIP_SOCKET, or even the NETCONN will be enough.
