Simple question: where are the GPIO pins on TMS570LC4357

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LC4357

I have very simple question. The data sheet for TMS570LC4357 claims 16 dedicated GPIO pins and 145 available GPIO pins, However, I can not find where those 145 GPIO pins are. For example, TI DSP 320F28335 has a document "TMS320x2833x, 2823x System Control and Interrupts Reference Guide (Rev. D) "
(SPRUFB0D) that very conveniently shows in the Table 47 the functions of every multiplexed pins and all GPIO pins available. I can not find such data for TMS570LC4357. The closes thing is the Table 3-X in the data sheet that list all pins EXCEPT those additional 145 GPIO pins. Could someone point me out to a document that shows where the 145 GPIO are listed? Thank you.

  • Hi,

The 145 available pins mentioned are the functional pins of peripherals which can be configured to act as GPIO pins. For Example, the unused pins of the N2HET module’s 32 available pins can be used as GPIO pins. Pins of other modules like CAN and SCI have a special configuration which allows their pins to be used as GPIO pins. More information about this can be found in the TRM under the corresponding module headings.

If you’re looking for a table showing all the available GPIO pins, you can find it in the datasheet ( Terminal Configuration and Functions > Terminal Functions > ZWT package ). In the table, you can check the “Description” column given against each pin which indicates whether the pin can be used for GPIO.

    Thanks and Regards,

  • Thnak you. I found it. I still think it would be better to have all IO explained in one place, just like 320F28335 documentatiojn.
