Tiva-C program loaders and debuggers

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

I'm looking for an alternative to the SDFlash tools. I know TI has the CCS Uniflash tool, not sure what else is out there.

Also, aside from the XDS100s, what debuggers are good for just programming? When we tried to use the XDS100s to dl a program, it was a decent amount slower than the parallel port one. Do you know anything about blackhawk?

  • Hello Tom

Is this specific question for TM4C Microcontrollers?

  • Sorry. Yes, customer is using TM4C123x and TM4C129x Tiva-C. They also use C2000 on prior designs.

  • Hello Tom,

Besides XDS100, the other XDS series may be used. Also if you have one of the older Stellaris ICDI boards, then it can be used as well. Other than that emulators from ARM and IAR J-link also work for programming.

Elprotronic has a stand along programmer as well for TM4C devices.

  • As you're a "Disty FAE" are you not charged w/assisting many ARM MCUs - from multiple vendors?   That said - any IDE and/or tool (vendor limited) may impact your efficiency - don't you agree?

Vendor's Amit mentioned Keil & IAR - our small tech firm has long used paid, multi-seat IAR and multiple J-Links.   These have worked very well w/this vendor's ARM MCUs - and those of 4 other ARM MCU vendors - and require only ONE "learning curve/experience build!"

Suspect that such "broader MCU usage" should "rise somewhat" in your quest for program loaders/debuggers...  Units you've mentioned are single vendor limited - force extra efforts upon you as they prove incapable of serving the (much) broader ARM MCU community...
