Tiva TM4C1294 Connected LaunchPad + CC3200

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200, CC3100, TM4C1294NCPDT

Hi,

I want to connect and communicate a Tiva TM4C1294 Connected LaunchPad with a CC3200. Please give a complete description of how to do that, and provide documentation. Thanks!

  • Hi Fernando,

If you connect a GPIO output from the Tiva to a GPIO input of the CC3200 you can transmit 2 states. If you can set the output to 1 or 0 and... well enough of that.

That's very vague. How do you want to communicate? You ask - in bold might I add - a complete description on how to do that and documentation while not even saying what protocol you want?
When someone approaches me in a similar way at the campus I usually ask for payment...
You want to communicate by wires or wireless? By Serial or Parallel? With SPI, I2C, UART. How fast? What information do you want to transmit? How fast do you need to transmit it.
Your effort to note that you need complete description is bigger than your effort to give detail...
  • Hi Luís!

I would like to use something more sophisticated, I want to transmit information in both directions, and as fast as possible. As a first approach, I was thinking about SPI from what I have seen in other posts:

At the Tiva side using the info in chapter 17 of this document:
    www.ti.com/.../spms433b.pdf

At the CC3200 using the API:
    SPI_Serial_Peripheral_Interface_api
in the CC3200 Peripheral Driver Library User's Guide 1.0.2

But I have not assessed yet whether this is possible, and exactly how to do that?, how to connect the devices?, how to configure them?

I want to connect the CC3200 to the Tiva using the available pins. The goal is, for example: receive information from the Ethernet port in the Tiva, do some processing, and send it to the CC3200, do some processing, and then transmit it using WiFi. The data can flow in the other direction as well.

Any other ideas, suggestions are welcome of course. As you can see, I am just starting to approach the problem, so I am open to different possibilities.
  • Hi Fernando,

I just want to remind you that you can connect Tiva Connected Launchpad and CC3100 Booster Pack.

Connecting Tiva Connected Launchpad and CC3200 for the purpose you have mentioned, is not practical.

  • Hi Fernando,

I agree completely with Markel, using the CC3100 boosterpack with the TM4C1294 launchad would be a much better idea

  • Uhmmmm.. Again Imperative form.... I am thinking about this, someone agree as appropriate answer to bad request form? :D I wish a pleasant enjoy.  (P.S. this got translated to many languages)

Forever I forgot original post: which one of multichannel are on both board and processor is/are to be selected for communication and to do what and why?

     No details no possible answers.

[Edit changed some word and splitted lines]

And about imperative, we are payd for? So why someone has to do that?

Fernando, I suggest learn something about different language use verb and courtesy:

    --->>  I want ----  give a complete description...

Sound too bad on English and I fear you literally translated from your native language. Learn about I wish, please and full courtesy form.  AVOID imperative.. So you MUST say sorry for that also if I understand why but you MUST avoid that.

    suggested phrase :

--- Please accept my apologizes about worst usage of my little English. ----

I am not native too and sometimes I wrote in unreadable form, but when happen is not question of foreign It can appear also on native too. Read again before post, preview of forum is no more here. :( [Edit : aafter reading the post I got back to repair disaster ;) ]

  •  Hi Luis, I like you liked it, I hope after edit, before was possible to feel as worst than imperative...

I wish have again post preview but I fear it is no more possible.

  • Hi Markel!
Thanks a lot for your very useful comment! I was considering the option with the 3200, because it could be useful to have some processing capabilities as well. But since you suggested it, we´ll try to connect the CC3100 with the Tiva board.

    Hi Luís and Roberto!

Although I think that I used a kind way to express myself (Note the "Please", Thanks! ,and "would like"s). As suggested: "Please accept my apologizes about worst usage of my little English."Please replace the "want" with "would like"s, and forget about the bolds. If you agree with this proposal, I would like to work in a professional way.

All, I would be very happy to receive additional information about how to "connect the Tiva TM4C1294 Connected LaunchPad and CC3100 Booster Pack". So far, I have this information:
    e2e.ti.com/.../1260112

Is there a better way to approach the problem than using the steps suggested in the post above.

I red that TI will be releasing a new SDK shortly with tiva connected port (TM4C1294NCPDT). Would you have the expected date for this release?

    Thanks!
  • Hi Fernando,

It would be better to further ask help at the Simplelink Wifi CC31xx/CC32xx forum, if you want to connect Tiva Connected Launchpad and CC3100 Booster Pack. There are some people who frequent the forum who might be able to help you, including TI Engineers.

Also it would help you a lot if you go through the related technical documents for CC3100 and CC3200.

Hi Fernando, I see you accepted suggestion, apologizes where not needed, it was just a suggestion I appreciate it was useful for you BUT you are still asking something still not documented.

What communication type you wish to implement between board? SPI parallel mode can be the fastest but to do what? Maybe some other solution are appliable.

Forever on post like your the worst trouble is to understand what the poster is asking us. Can you try explain more? Use short phrases it is forever better.
