Sir , why we are not using germanium as real time application's. What is the relationship between germanium and silicon?

    Following may be the reasons :
    1. Si has a forward voltage of 0.7V greater compared to Ge which has 0.3V.
    2. The reverse current in silicon flows in order of nano amperes, but in order of micro amperes in germanium
    3. Si diode has large reverse breakdown voltageRegards,QJ
