TIVA C MAC Address

Hi,

If you are using Tiva Connected Launchpad, it should have a MAC Address already saved. There should be a sticker on the Tiva Connected Launchpad with the MAC address printed on it.

Yep, I was asking where that MAC came from, if its something included with the mcu or if it comes from else where.

Or to put another way, when using the mcu in a custom design, not the launchpad, do I need to provide my own mac address?

The MAC address must have been stored into Tiva MCU registers before the Launchpad was packed into the box.

What does one do when the MAC address on the stored address does not agree with the sticker. I have an EK-TM4C129XL with a stored address of 00:1A:B6:03:15:85. The sticker seems to have been over written to show 00:1A:B6:03:16:86

You can run the unlock sequence to erase everything on the device. Then re-program the MAC address with the Commit control set in LMFlashProgrammer.

Successfully reprogrammed.

Is it necessary to commit? How does commit affect other Flash areas? Can it be undone manually later?

If not committed, then a power cycle would reset the MAC address ti all 1's. It does not affect anything else other than register that is to be committed. To un-commit, an Unlock Sequence needs to be run. However this is a global event and shall erase all other registers as well along with the main flash
