DK-TM4C123G Development board

How to power on DK-TM4C123G Development board without using usb interface?

Can i connect powersupply directly to board please suggest ?

  • Hi,

See, powering options at the Board User's Guide.

I tried to open the Board User's Guide from TI website to verify, but there seems to be a problem opening it.

  • Markel's suggestion, "RTFM" is recommended and supported.

That said - and if you're unable to find (the fine manual) this issue has (recently) arrived right here - and been detailed by our Amit.

When all else fails - forum search - targeting external power of your board - may answer...

CAUTION:  You give no reason for your reluctance to power via USB connector.   If you introduce power incorrectly - and/or w/out full compliance with board's direction - you may cause DAMAGE!   Think very carefully before you do so - great attention to detail is required.   Use of the USB Connector is safe, "no-brainer."

  • Hello Guntoju,

Yes, but with a 5V source only. There is a barrel connector for the 5V source and do note to change the jumper J11 to the connector.

  • Pardon - but are not we "trading" the convenience, safety & sure availability of USB cable for, "No good reason?"

I can smell - but not yet see - smoke rising from poster's "mispowered" board.   (I'd bet that sooner - rather than later - J11 will be "forgotten and restored to original position" - and fire-bell will ring...)

  • Hello cb1,

The DK TM4C1924 Guide gives the power supply to be chosen as well (CUI EMSA05300-P6P).

Wow - that's really quite good.   Always a challenge (we find) to mate the (many) different "barrel" plugs.

Suddenly the smell of smoke lessens - and fire-bell drops in level.

That said - not all posters display the discipline to order the correct, mated part - and an unsavory "wire-tack" may well restore that charred smell & sound...
