hi ti,

what is the advantage of sending single packet over multiple buffer descriptors.

in tms570lc4357 TRM section 32.2.6.1, packet B and packet C are of same size 1514 bytes.

packet B is divided as 3 fragments and is transmitted using 3 BDs. packet C is transmitted over single BD.

what is the difference and advantage??

Pavithra,

There is an advantage in transmitting from original buffers if the data originates in different buffers.
For example, if an application provided the payload and the IP stack provided the network headers in a separate buffer, it may be possible to send the packet out without copying any data by using multiple buffer descriptors.
