The CCS version provided with TMS570LS31x Hercules USB Stick Development Kit is 4.x where as FreeRTOS is compatible with CCS v5.

Is there a way out? Does TI provide CCS V5 with TMS570LS31x Hercules USB Stick Development Kit

You can download the latest version of CCS from the TI website. The USB stick uses the XDS100v2 emulator which is supported by CCS without a license and without limitations.

CCSv6.1.0 will support FreeRTOS and is available here: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Download_CCS

Thank you Davenport. We are looking to interface ultrasonic sensors and also CAN port for our application.

Considering the form factor of the USB kit, will there be major challenge for interfacing with sensors.

Hi Ravi,

If the USB kit does not carry enough functionality/features for you or the form factor is an issue, you may want to consider looking at the latest Hercules Launchpad that has been released. See the information here: www.ti.com/.../launchxl2-tms57012. This kit does not include a CAN transceiver, but one can easily be added using the available holes along the edges to add additional expension boards/connectors.

Thank you Davenport. I have a few more questions related to LAunchPad you suggested.

1. Does it support CCS v6 without any limitations?

2. Does it support HALCOgen for generation of code to interface with peripherals of the Launchpad?

Hello Ravi,

CCS6 and Halcogen both support the Launchpad. The launchpad uses the XDS110 emulator.
