Hello,

I am using TIVA C Launchpad, TM4C123GH6PM and trying to connect through my PC by RS232 medium. I have modified the UART echo example and configured PORT B (Pin PB0 and PB1) as UART. Earlier I have checked the same code with PORT A (without RS232) as given in UART Echo example it is working. Below is my h/w schematic. Am I making some mistake in connection..? Please let me know. I have connected Putty to enter text and LED glow, but in case of RS232 nothing displays.

Hi,

Be sure:
RS232/423 a DTE to DTE we must cross TXD into RXD of the receiver.
DTE - DCE straight through cable.
DCE - DCE cross 2&3

DTE: data terminal equipment port (PCXT/PCAT) serial card.
DCE: data communications equipment (modem)

Hello Anup,

Seems Pin-2 and 3 are swapped on the DB9 connector

I am using Rx, Tx and GND Pins. So isn't that enough..? Please correct me if I am wrong..

Dear Amit,

The other side cable which is connecting in desktop it has swapped connection. So I don't think here I need to change the Tx ,Rx connection.
Should I post my code ..?..If you can look at it.

Hello all,

The circuit is working now. Actually I was missing the GND connection. It was not connecting properly.

Good to take all credit from the ones steering you in the right direction?

Perhaps checking the box answered above especially when the circuit should have been rang out via DVM before calling & asking for help.
