RM48L952 - same NHET, same PWM configuration, different output....

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: RM48L952, HALCOGEN

Hi We are using the TI RM48L952.  Attached/below are screenshots of schematics/scope for #1. We have 2 different pins on the same nhet1 with the same halcogen code behaving 2 different ways.

  1. Terminal k18 (NHET1) to output period of 10000uSec and 62% duty cycle (100Hz).  However, we measured approx. 90Hz (period 11111uSec) and roughly 68% duty  cycle. What would cause this to not be accurate?

  2. No output at all can be measured from terminal W5  (same NHET1 different pin) at all when we send the same .

Is this a problem in the circuit or HalCoGen configuration?

  • Hi Tammy,

Can you please tell us the Loop Time and HR Clock in your HalCoGen configuration? The smaller the Loop Time is, the higher the resolution of your actual PWM frequency and duty cycle.

If you use PWM1 for W5 pin, please select pin 2 and enable the PWM1 in Halcogen configuration. W5 is also used as SPI4SIMO, double check your pinmux too.

    Regards,

    QJ

  • Hi Thank you QJ.

    HR Clock (MHz) = 110
    VCLK2 = 100 -> HR Presscaler 0 -> Actual HR Clock (MHz) 100
    Loop Time = 800
    HR Clock (Mz) = 100 -> LR Prescale = 7 -> Actual LR Time = 1280

There are 2 HR Clock values in the HET1 Global Timing Configuration TAB in HalCoGen. Can you give me a screen shot of an HalCoGen example of what you mean? We did the setup for W5 to be NHET.  But now we tested with terminal M3 NHET1[25] and it is like W5 (nothing and it is not multiplexing on this terminal).  So, W5, M3 and K18 are all on same NHET, and we call the same function to output signal -- but only K18 is showing there is a same signal of same duty cycle (62%) and period (10000usec)  on the scope (an imperfect waveform described above), the other 2 there is nothing.   Thank you.

  • Hi Tammy,

Which version of HalCoGen are you using? I'd like to do a test using the project generated by HalCoGen.

    Regards,
    QJ
  • Hi QJ. Thank you. Version 04.03.00.
  • Hi OJ,

Do you have any updates on this?  We really need your help to resolve the issues.  Please see our schematic below.  We're directly measuring the output at the terminals M3 and K18.  There is no load or anything connects to these 2 terminals.  As Tammy mentioned above, we see no movement out of M3.  And on K18, we see something but it does not match what we're expecting.  On hardware, there is really nothing else to it.  What else can we look at?

    Thank you so much.

    Derrick

  • Hi QJ,

We did more testing today.  Please see below5140.HalCoGen.zip:

    1)  We wanted output at V6 (N2HET1[5]), but captured output at P1 (N2HET1[24]) instead.

    2)  We wanted output at W5 (N2HET1[2]), but captured output at V6 (N2HET1[5]) instead.

    3)  We wanted output at P1 (N2HET1[24]), but nothing at P1.

    4)  We wanted output at M3 (N2HET1[25]), but nothing at M3.

I checked our hardware and layout connection and they are wired correctly.  Is there a mistake in datasheet (page 23 on SPNS177B).  Or maybe there is something wrong in the Halcogen auto generating.  I attached the Halcogen auto generated code.  Could you test it and let us know if you see the same issues?

    Thanks

    Derrick

  • Hello QJ,

Can we please escalate support of this ticket? This is a gating item for us and we need an understanding of a resolution soon.

    We would appreciate your support.

    Thanks.

  • Hi QJ,

Here is the HalCoGen configuration if that helps. Thank you again.2860.HalCoGen.zip

  • You have been awesome in supporting us in the past, and it seems QJ maybe busy. Can you guide us on how to escalate this issue?

    Thanks.

  •  Wanted to make sure you are OK.  Can you please help support?
