Hello all.

I'm having a trouble with NMPU unit in TMS570LC4357. Please anybody help me in this.

Actual problem is that,

Mistakenly I have burn my TMS570LC4357 with NMPU enabled and protected the region 0x00000000 - 0x003FFFFF with No-Read/Write-User/Privillage.

So after burning this configuration, I could not burn my IC further with new code. So How can I solve this? Is there anyway to disable NMPU when programming so that programmer can flash the 0x00000000 - 0x003FFFFFF location in the memory?

Please anybody help me!

Karthikeyan,

I believe you are talking about the Cortex MPU which is programmed incorrectly and the code doing that is currently residing in the flash, which is holding you from erasing the part again.

If that's the case, I would suggest you to follow the below sequence,

1. Hold the power on reset active low (So CPU doesn't start executing the code that already exists in flash)
2. Start erase operation using the Flash programming tool (Say UNIFLASH)
3. While your uniflash keeps waiting since the device is still in reset, try releasing the reset randomly after a couple of sec's

This should help to get your part erased. But still if you are not able to erase, then try the same sequence(1,2,3) a few more times so that the Flash programmer gets hold of the CPU by halting it before CPU executes the code which will program the MPU.

Really thanks for your reply . Actually I did the same thing already in the CCS environment. But it didn't work. Ok. I am moving to UniFlash. But here also a problem comes. Please help me in this.

I am using TMS570LC4357. The software you said (UniFlash) did not have support for TMS570LC43x. I can not find this IC number in the drop down list of New Target Configuration. So Karthikeyan! Is this possible to flash TMS570LC4357 with UniFlash? If yes, please guide me how to choose TMS570LC4357 for New Target Configuration. And I am using TI XDS100V2 Debugger and also USB560V2 System Trace Debugger. With both the hardwares used, I cannot re-program the Kit using CCS environment.

Ok. Let me try with UniFlash. But My IC number is not listed in the Drop Down box in UniFlash Software.
Please point me where it is located?

I am using CCS UniFlash Version: 3.1.0.0002. Are you using the same or higher?

I tried updating just now. But it shows this error.

Which version of Uniflash you are using. Could you please give me the download link for it?

Sorry. I was getting the following error message whenever I tried updating UniFlash. So I can not find the packages you're having and since I am having no support for TMS57LC4357 in UniFlash.

What could be the Cause of the problem?

Whatever, I want my kit re-programmable. Is there any other way to completely re-flash/erase/reset TMS570? Please help me in this.

Yes. I had tried that also. But no use. Same happens again and again.

Same way I had attached the snap shots of error that I got when trying to burn code in TMS570 using CCS environment. May be this also useful for you to get a clear picture.

These are the tries with BlackHawk USB360 System trace debugger and the same errors are occurred when I tried with TI XDS100V2 debugger also.

Karthikeyan,

CCS and UniFlash are related as they use the same packages in the backend. I believe you are still using CCSV5 from your logs.

Can you pls try uninstalling UNiflash, then on Install CCSV6 and then UniFlash again and let us know if you are able to update and get TMS570LC listed ?

Thanks for your guidance. I have tried the steps you said. And got support for TMS570LC4357. Thanks for that. After that I tried burning TMS570 using TI XDX100V2 and got this error result.

And after getting this error, I did another try with Hercules Safety Demo software. i.e: I just opened Hercules Safety Demo software, it detects my board. Hence it could not find the demo hex in my TMS570, it starts burning it. But that also did not work. Here the snap shot of this for your reference.

I can not find where I make a mistake. Please Guide me to make my board working.

Hi Karthik,

Here is the another observation.

I can read the Flash memory. Yes. I did read the memory using uniflash. It can happen. So my problem only flashing that memory or even Erasing the memory.

I am struck. Please help me.

Guess what!. I can re-burn my kit now.

Thanks for your guidance until now.

I did erasing all the bank at once. It didn't work. So I tried erasing each bank separately. For Bank0 Sector 0, I can not erase first. So I tried erasing Bank0 Sector 1. It worked. So I tried the same for Bank0 Sector 2. and I continued the same for all banks all sectors. Finally I came again to the Bank 0 Sector 0. This time I can do burning my Flash Memory using UniFlash. So It works now but not with CCS V6.1.0.00104

Sorry to say this Karthik.

This time my TMS570 is Ok. But Problem is with CCS V6.1.0.00104 . After Updating CCS, I got this error.

When I go to Debug mode, CCS tried to burn the code to TMS570. And it did flash upto 90 %. But at the last minute It said the below error.

Please guide me to solve this. I thought like this is the problem of CCS latest version.

Let me summarize a little bit..

a. Now with the latest UNIFLASH and CCS 6, using Erase Start and Reset sequencing you were able to erase the Flash.
b. You are also now able to program new .out using Uniflash
c. But using CCS6 latest version, you are not able to program the part ??

I do not see any problems, can you once erase the part using UniFlash and keep a very simple Branch to itself code on main() function to be sure that the code you have do not create these issues to start with and try flashing it using CCS ?

Hope you have the HDK intact w/o and hardware modifications to Clock etc...

Sorry for the delay to reply. Actually I cannot program my TMS570LC4357 with CCS v6.1.0.00104. But at the same time I can do programming with CCS v6.0.1.00040. So I doubted that some issue is there with the latest version (CCS v6.1.0.00104).

Please refer this page.

So Now I'm using CCS v6.0.1.00040 instead of the latest one. However It should be fixed. That's why I bring this problem to your vision.
