error led flashing

Dan S17

The error led (D10) of my Hercules rm42x board is flashing when I connect my board to my PC through the USB connector. How do I determine what the error is due to?

If I load code to the board the light stops flashing and the code runs as expected but this flashing error light is a new behavior so I would like to determine the cause.

Hello:

Error LED is directly connected to nERROR pin, which indicates a ESM fault detected. You can check ESM status registers (ESMSR1 to ESMSR3) to determine the error condition.

Yes, I mean reading those registers. You can find the ESM Channel Assignments in the device datasheet.

Another bonehead question for you. I assume that I should read the ESM channel and printf its contents from within the while loop of sysmain. Is that correct?

You can do that, or you can use the debugger and directly check the register values.

You can see the register values when debugging in CCS.
