Tiva C Series battery powered max input voltage?

Hi, I need to power my Tiva C Series with a battery. My question is where do I connect the battery Vcc and what is the voltage range tolerated? I currently am plugging in here (blue circle R14):

I first did with a 3.3V using a voltage divider from a 5V source, but the program did not work when I removed USB power. I noticed it was due to a voltage drop across the voltage divider from 3.3V--->2.8V (why is this?). When I connect 5V directly from the voltage regulator, it works. But is 5V safe?
