TMS570LS3137 : BGA | Confirmation of the NC pins that CAN be connected to GND

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LS3137

Hi,

I have a design using the TMS570LS3137 in the final stages of PCB layout.

I have double checked my schematic, and have found some discrepancies on the datasheet.

Data Sheet : SPNS162B  http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tms570ls3137.pdf

Page 24 "FlexRay Interface Controller (FlexRay)"

FRAYRX2       A8 Input Pull Up Fixed, 100uA       - FlexRay data receive (channel 2)

FRAYTX2       B8 Output None                      - FlexRay data transmit (channel 2)

FRAYTXEN2     B9 Output  None                     - FlexRay transmit enable (channel 2)

Page 36 "No Connects"

No Connects. These balls are not connected to any internal logic and can be connected to the PCB ground without affecting the functionality of the device.

NC B8 - - -

NC B9 - - -

I am happy to leave the FlexRay pins as a true No connect, since we are not using that module.

Can you confirm that no unexpected behaviour / damage will occur if the following NC balls are grounded in the PCB. The reference design seems to leave them as No Connects.

  • Mike,

Sorry about the discrepency - on the 3137 the flexray pins are there and the flexray output pins should not be tied to GND - I would leave them open. (They are output only, they don't 3-state). You can leave the RX pin open - since it's got a pullup.
