Problem with serial port

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ENERGIA

Hi,

I am completely new to this software type. I'm experiencing a problem with my Stellaris Launchpad lm4f120. There is no serial port showing in the drop down menu when I open the energia software. I've tried trouble shooting a number of times, re-downloaded the drivers and tried to reinstall them but nothing seems to be working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jonathan.

  • Hello Jonathan,

I am not an expert of Energia, but AFAIK w.r.t Energia the Serial Port is on the Serial Console Application like PuTTy or TeraTerm on the PC.

  • Hi Jonathan,

I think you should try to right away use another software for the serial. Simple reason is, it's giving you problems and will probably give you more. The Energia one seems to be less problematic, but I rarely use it so I can't say for sure, but the Arduino easily crashes/freezes when a lot of data is sent and tends to not find the COM.

From what Amit referred I prefer Putty. I just had right now with 3 consoles reading 3 UARTs at 926000 each without a single problem (besides actually reading a dam thing).

If you still want to try out with Energia serial monitor (I admit it's handy to have it right there):
How does your board show up on the devices?
    What OS are you using?
    What version of Energia?

You could get better help on the mater at http://forum.43oh.com/
There's a Energia area for each launchpad.
