Hi. We are using the Hercules RM48L952ZWT board. For the ADC module, in the SPNU503B-November 2012-August 2013 revision datasheet, section 19.8 outlines some ADC calibration functions. For new hardware, do we need to run these calibration sequence before we use the ADC module, or i.e., everytime at boot up for the ADC Module to give us correct values? Or when is calibration of the ADC module in the RM48 necessary? We have modified only the HalCoGen and enabled ADC so far but not run any of these calibration functions yet (we are only using the ADC initialization functions in HalCoGen autogenerated libraries for now). Thank you.

Hi Tammy,

The datasheet specifies the ADC's total unadjusted error (TUE) as +/- 4 counts. The ADC calibration can account for the offset error component which is part of this total error. If the TUE is too large for your application, you can calibrate the ADC to remove any DC offset error. This calibration procedure can be performed at start-up, or periodically depending on how much the operating conditions (voltage, temperature) change in your target application.

Hi Karthik. Thank you for the gentle reminder. I was out of the office since last week until today. I will check with our hardware engineer that it looks Ok now, and then come back to TI and close if he is satisfied.
