TCP Port

Hello everyone,


I use the TM4C1294Xl LaunchPad. I use the TCP Protocol to communicate with the Computer. I have a question about the Port, which port should i using ?
tcp_bind(pcb, IP_ADDR_ANY, ??)
There is a long list of the ports for TCP. makes a difference, which port I use?

    Fares,

    This is a very basic networking question - nothing to do with the Tiva, and as such outside the scope of this forum. I must warn you - if your network knowledge is at that level (that you need to ask which TCP port should you use), you are walking on VERY thin ice. What I mean is that you have so many "gotchas" on the Tiva side of things that you need to be absolutely certain that your network side is working as intended - otherwise you don't know if you're troubleshooting at the right target.

    And to be useful and actually answer your question; short version: No, it does not make a difference. Long version: it depends on your network configuration. Going to the details is not for this forum.

    Do yourself a favor and read up on TCP/IP and networking in general - you need to be able to comfortably reply that question of yours before proceeding with your project.

    Yet - just as you've guided another - can it be long before, "worked perfectly" (highly suspect - btw) rings again - this unguided, scope-less forum.
