problem in UART communication

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TM4C1294NCPDT

UART communication is not wrking in my board now,i tink there is no problem with the project build as its worked properly earlier.

can anyone suggest a way to check if its the boards fault. i'm using tm4c1294ncpdt evaluation board and Code Composer Studio 6.0.1

  • I'm really sorry - my crystal ball is out for polishing today. Perhaps just a tiny little bit of extra detail would be in order - to help us help you.
  • May I suggest that - beyond polishing - said xtal ball requires latest/greatest, "Read poster's mind" program update.

Of course poster notes, "worked properly earlier" - yet fails to provide any clue as to, "what's changed - likely his cause agent."

Scope (or enfeebled Led) probed at UART_TX may confirm presence of output signal - same method @ UART_RX - when remote is transmitting - reveals data arrival.

The download of a new, very limited - "UART test" (borrowed from API examples - with NO user additions) can best establish board's (continued) capability.

Surely that past (working) code was placed in "safe repository" to quickly/easily resolve such misfortune.     Or not...

  • Hello Rahul,

The first thing to check is that TX and RX paths are OK. Connect a scope probe/LA and send a character from MCU to external world and see if the IO toggles and same from external source to the MCU. This will establish electrical connectivity.

Then check with GPIO toggle that you can get the IO's to change levels to ensure that the device is electrically OK on the interface.

From them on we can see what the next steps ought to be.
