Effectively, there is no way to certify a software tool under ISO 26262. A software tool can only be evaluated as suitable for use in context to a specific system development and a specific customer implemented use case (tool execution platform, compiler switch settings, validation process, etc.). ISO 26262 part 8 clause 11 provides guidelines for end users to qualify a software tool in a specific system development.
We are evaluating how to best support customer evaluation our software tools in their systems for system ISO 26262 compliance.

Hi,
The posted link doesn't work for me, I get:
Hi Tony,
It appears that we referenced a TI Employee only link in the response. We will check to see what can be pulled back to the public forum.

Karl
Hi Tony,
Karl's last statement remains the most accurate.
"We are evaluating how to best support customer evaluation our software tools in their systems for system ISO 26262 compliance." Further investigations on how to best support our customers in this area are planned for 2012. When we have more concrete data we will be sharing it with the market broadly.
