i designed a xds100 v2 in my pcb of my tms570 design, but how to the cpld(xc2c32a)?

in ti's document,i can program this cpld of xds100 v2 through ftdi ft2232h's usb port.

but i shoud program cpld in ccs v4.1 or xilinx iMPact or ti's other software tools through ftdi ft2232h's usb port.

The method used to program the CPLD included with the XDS100v2 deisgn will vary based on your exact hardware implementation.

Two ways:

- Use the XILINX tools. Free WebPack has the software tools, you just need a Xilinx programming cable.

We had left test points for the CPLD JTAG on the back of the XDS100v2 layout example, if you have these you could build a jig with pogo-pins to contact the test points for programming.

- Construct an application to program the CPLD through USB.

Xilinx appnote: http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/application_notes/xapp058.pdf explains how to program a device in system through a microcontroller. It provides sample code for you to use, and you mainly need to customize the subroutines that manipulate the JTAG pins as General purpose I/O.

In this case, you would run the example code on a PC and use the FTDI driver to manipulate the FTDI's pins as general purpose I/O. FTDI's website has software libraries that you can use to control the FTDI2232H pins through variety of languages.

Advantage of this method is no 'jig' to build and you can ship field upgrades to your customer electronically.

Hi, Yang,
look for "wiggler" or xilinx parallel cable schematic. It is easy to rebuild. As I remember ISE 10.1 could use this cables.

Without a Xilinx cable, there are also some command line utilities that use the FTDI chip to reprogram the CPLD, but you have to be careful to get the utility that matches the hardware as the JTAG of the CPLD is 'bit-banged' by these utilities.

You may also need to use a different .xsvf file if you are using a different CPLD pinout or package than what is included with the utility.
