M4 as virtual com port host?

Hi,

I have a virtual com port device, it connect to PC originally.

But I want use M4 to replace PC, is it possible?

If yes, what should I do? and where can I get host driver for M4? or is there any example about this?

Hello Abby,

The existing USB Library does not have drivers for USB CDC Host but on for USB CDC Device. You would have to develop the library. Having said that it is possible for the M4 to work as Virtual COM Port Master, but then it would not replace a PC in terms of the capabilities. What do you want to do with TM4C would be more important and vital so that we can give a better suggestion.

This wiki describes an implementation of USB Host for FTDI on Stellaris LM4F microcontroller:

It uses libFTDI - FTDI USB driver with bitbang mode:

Note that the TivaWare 2.1.1 has a different flavor of USB structures so it would require changes to the code post from Leo (and the original post)
