tm4c129x communicate between two boards using uart

hi

is there any reference that using uart between two boards ?

i want to make game using two boards !

transfer coordinate each other.

any idea plz

  • While not rising to hallowed "reference" - following should provide solid (back of envelope) approach:

    a) If both boards are w/in one meter of connection length you may be able to directly connect them - longer length usually demands RS232 style line drivers at both ends

    b) route UART_RX of one board to UART_TX of the other.   Use of a "pull-up" resistor on RX cannot hurt and may spare you the unpleasantness of unexpected interrupts

    c) always best if single (and adequate) power supply runs both boards.    Many get into trouble when they "try" to "steal" limited 3V3 from one board to power the other.   That proves extremely unwise - as most eval boards contain 3V3 regulators - which will be damaged if external 3V3 is "added."   Properly rated 5V is usually far safer to distribute from board to board.   (nicely accepted by most such boards' VRegs)

    d) suggest that you debug initially via MCU to PC connection - once that's test/verified - move to board to board.

While not mandatory - use of RS232/485 line drivers is highly recommended.   Along w/rendering signals stronger, vastly expanding achievable distance - most provide very good ESD protection.    "Saving" the cost of the line drivers may (very well) add the cost/time/effort agony of MCU replacement - at one or (likely) both ends...   (and "what" savings - then?)

Note that RS485 well accommodates, "multi-drop" - thus expanding your player number from 2 to 32 (or beyond) w/extra treatment...
