Need RM48L952 eval board pcb file converted to Altium

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: RM48L952, TMDSRM48HDK

Hello,

I have a customer who purchased the RM48L952 evaluation board (TMDSRM48HDK RM48 Hercules Development Kit (HDK)) and they need to get the reference board design files (spnr031.zip) converted from Allegro to Altium 15.1.  They've been able to bring the schematics into Altium but not the PCB design which is a *.brd file.  Can these binary files be converted to a *.alg file which is an ASCII file?  Is there someone that has an Allegro package who can open the *.brd file and save it as a *.alg file so that our customer can work with it?

Thanks,
Jackie

  • I have passed your post to several co-worker to see if they are aware of any software tools.

    Thanks and regards,

  • Hi,

It will be significantly easier to create the sections of the HDK that you need in Altium schematic and then re-layout a new PCB.

You may find converters, however in Altium you'll need to have the component libraries, footprints, signal integrity models, paste and solder mask defines, etc.

Our first every experience with RM48L952 was to create a test PCB from the HDK design. It took only 1 day to create the footprints, schematic symbols and wire everything up, then another day to layout the PCB and send to manufacture.

Going-forward we used the test PCB to validate our Altium footprints and symbols along with SMT processing of the -ZWT BGA package.

    Stomp!.
