Hi there

I've got a problem with my TM4C1230D5PM micro-controller. My board worked well, until I unfortunately abort a programming download over my XDS100v2 JTAG module. After this happend, my controller is no more accessable.

I tried to download the programm with an other JTAG module, that uses the ICDI JTAG emulator. Same problem there.
I worked with CCS5 and also tried it with the LM Flash Programmer. On an other pcb it worked in both ways.

So my question is, if it's possible to corrupt something inside the micro-controller when a download is abort not correctly? (In the JTAG interface or elsewhere)
And if so, is there a possibility to kind of "reset" the device to the factory state?

Hello Dominic,

It may have corrupted the device. You can revert it to factory condition using ICDI+LMFlashProgrammer with the Unlock utility in LMFlashProgrammer. Please read the following post.

Thank you for your awnser.
I tried it like it is described in the post you attached. But I could not reconfigure my device to factory condition.
So it seams like my controller has a bigger problem or something else is wrong on the device. Maybe it's the easiest way to just
replace the controller on the board.

I recently had the same issue, but using a ICDI blue wired to my board, I was able to recover it.

I changed the processor now and then I was able to download. But a few downloads later, the same problem!
Can you tell me what the ICDI blue wire is? I never heard of that.

Hello Dominic,

Blue wiring is a term used when two boards have to be connected with bare wires instead of using solid header/connector/PCB traces

1. What causes the issue of the processor not able to download code? Have you isolated the same?

We have try this out, but unfortuntly we don't have any good news. I also measured the JTAG-Signals. The signals looks okay if I try the Unlock.
If I do a power-up of the uController, I can see a 15Hz Signal on the TDO from uController. Can it be that the uController is in a special mode? Its still not possible to download any code, and the uController stay all time in this special-Mode. No code is running. It seems that the uController stay just in this mode....

Hello Adrian,,

That is not a good signature from the device. Are you using EEPROM in your application code and what revision of the device is being used?

Yes, we use the EEPROM in our application. The device revision is:

Major: Value is 00000001 --> Revision B

Minor: Value is 00000001 --> First metal layer change

Part Markings:

Line2: TM4C1230

Line3: D5PMI

Line 4: 39AS41W --> September 2013

Can this error occur if a EEPROM programming is in progress and the powerSupply is shutdown durring this?

Hello Adrian,

I suspect so. The Revision B1 silicon has the issue and looking at the TDO signature it would be indicative of the same.
