Your HDK board has tranceivers. The LaunchPad doesn't.
You can build a small BoosterPack with a tranceiver. You can use the identical schematic as on the HDK:
Check page 20. The setup consists of an SN65HVDA541 tranceiver and a few resistors and capacitors.
On this page you can see how you can connect the tranceivers together (with a termination resistor over the lines at the start and the end of the bus - if you follow the HDK setup, the termination resistors are already part of the schematic):
